There was a suggestion that FS were not represented at Discover Dogs on the Sunday. I had reported the attendance based on my knowledge of who should have been there. I was correct, and Brenda and Carol were there, but had arrived later than they intended due to very heavy traffic conditions, and then a parking problem. Their overall impression was that the day was very busy.

The Nordic show was recently held at the Sports Connexion at Ryton-on-Dunsmore. I cannot lay my hands on my catalogue from last year, so do not know how the total entry compared. However, I do know that this year’s FS entry was less than last year’s at just eight dogs, and five of those, being a ‘complimentary’ entry were absent.

I am sure the Club committee would like to know why our breed is so poorly represented at what is in effect an open show for the breed. Here are a couple of suggestions: we don’t like the Sports Connexion, as it is too noisy; and it clashed with another show, unusually as they are not normally on the same date, and exhibitors who might normally come to the Nordic were heavily involved in the organisation of the other show. Any other suggestions?

Now just one more major show, LKA, before the end of the year, and I have been reliably informed that we have a good entry of 19 dogs. Hopefully they will all turn up so that we can exchange Christmas greetings and cards. After that there is the Stourbridge show where we have classes for the first time, with a breed specialist judge.
